Props/costumes photos, planning & research

Horror film props:
In horror films the props and costumes are a vital parts of any film, but most importantly horror. Horror films include a variety of different costumes, props and makeup. Most horror films include stereotypical props such as: Knives, guns, axes etc. The costumes on horror films often come from what audiences find most scary depending on the age requirements on the film created. In a U/PG film props will be used such as: spiders, cobwebs, broomsticks and cauldrons However, in films with age limits of 15, props used will be objects such as: murder weapons and things that that targeted audience will find scary. Finally in 18 rated films, their will be more gore, drug use and sexual scenes.

These are some examples of props used in horror films, They are what are expected in horror films, followed by blood and gore again depending on the age range. They both are expected to kill someone. 





Horror film makeups:
The makeup involved in horror films is what is expected by the target audiences, in which is scary.
They include blood, guts, gore, scars, contact lenses and nails. Our film with contain a mask, we will be using touch ups and white face paint, to create an illusion that the film is scary.

Horror film costumes:
In horror the films the costume use is a very important aspect, alongside makeup and props. The costume can make the characters known for a special item of clothing for example a mask or a necklace. The costumes can be normal outfits for example on the normal non horrifying characters, Whereas the horrifying characters will wear masks, cloaks etc,







url.jpg    This is an example of  an outfit of a well known horror film character, The Grudge.
She is wearing a long wet wig, and all white clothing, White dress, tights, shoes and almost a morph suit as all skin is white. This creates the dead effect and shows the audience that the character is dead.







url.jpg This is an example of another horror film well known character, in which wears all black, and a white mask with a scary face, the character is in all black as black is the scariest, darkest colour. it creates a dead effect and makes the audience scared.
