'The Black Cross'

Films that may be relevant or similar to my created film:
- The woman in black
- Paranormal activity
- Insidious
- The shining

These films all have different aspects of it, as there a similar things occur in mine as to what happens in these films, I have used symbolism like what is in 'The woman in black' as the symbolism used in that is the face of the woman, and the symbolism in 'insidious' as the symbol appears in photographs and takes over the body of the human. Cameras are set up like the home made video in 'Paranormal activity'.

'The Home'

Films that may be relevant or similar to the film i have created:
-The Others
-The orphan
-The orphanage
-The innocents

Different aspects of these films appears in different way in my film i have created. The Care home is in some of these. The lonely boy is in some of these. Someone that doesn't talk much is implied in these movies.
Horror film ideas=
Me and my group are all thinking about different ideas for a horror film. We are all thinking different ideas so later on we can choose the best idea and use this for our movie. My story line is going to involve wide variety of sound, music, costumes, scenes and images. My film idea is going to be called 'The home' as it is based on a Boy, named Ryan and is 17, who has lost his parents and now lives in a care home with many other children who have also lost their parents. His parent died in a crash and he believes it is because they turned to drink, and this is what he tells people if they ask.  He is lonely and has no friends, when he goes to school he gets bullied about his parents death. He doesn't talk to anyone about how he is feeling, he keeps it to himself. Everyone in the care home tries making conversation with him but he just keeps walking off and ignoring them all. Days are all the same for him, nothing good seems to be happening for himself. School days for him are getting worse and people have started making names for him and shouting stuff at him down corridors. Everything is coming too much for Ryan. The most well known boy in the school walks past and nudges Ryan, and shouts at him, Ryan has had enough of all the agro he is getting, and swings round to James (the well known boy) and wraps his hands round his neck and doesn't let go. Everyone crowds round and watching James getting strangled everyone is trying  to make ryan let go of him, but it is not happening. Silence occurs and James drops to the floor. Ryan has killed him. Shocked is how everyone is feeling even ryan. Not knowing what to do he runs away, back to the care home and slowly lies into bed, thinking about what he has does and crying. Everything is silent and suddenly the phone starts ringing. He heres the owner of the Care home talking on the phone and having a very long conversation. The phone calls end and the Karen (the care home owner) starts to walk upstairs. She sits on ryans bed and tries talking to him about why he did it. No words are being said from Ryan. She announced to him that he is going to have to go to a Mental home and get help for himself. He moves to the mental home and still doesn't talk to anyone. After a few months of living in the Mental home, Ryan escapes and no-one can find im anywhere. Everyone is looking for him and he is no where to be seen. The care home starts having mysterious and weird things happening to them. Sound starts occuring in the house. Voices start occuring. People start thinking and knowing it's Ryan. Ryan start killing and torturing people one by one and people are doing everything in their power to try and find him and make him stop. Ryan is making people kill themselves and torturing people. After everyone in the care home has been killed, ryan walks to the camera and says: 'YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE BEING MY PARENTS, THIS IS WHY YOUR NOT HERE'.
Horror film idea=
Each member of our group have been assigned to create a story line for a different film, in which we could later on use for our potential film. i have decided to create my own storyline, my idea will involve   using different forms of lighting, sound and images. My own contribution of an idea will be named 'The Black Cross'. I have named it this due to the fact, The cross within this film is a symbol of 'death'. A young family move into a new house away from the city centre, the house is hundreds of years old, The old couple in which lived there before the new family, died in this house with no known reason. Nobody has lived there since. A boy part of the new family, named Hugo, finds a secret compartment off his bedroom, covered by a mat. He goes in and finds boxes of old books, photographs and videos, and a black cross. In the background of all pictures or somewhere within the picture is the black cross and a hand holding it. The boy attaches it to a piece of string and wears it round his neck, he begins examining it and looking it up, and spends a vast majority of his time at school and college researching it, and trying to find what it is. Strange things begin happening to him, he changes slowly, from being a sweet and fairly happy young boy, to being more touchy and stroppy. He begins hearing noises, foot steps and church bells ringing. No churches are around, nobody is in and the house is in the middle of a dark and lonely countryside. Hugo knows he isnt imaging these sounds, he makes a friend at college named Maddie. They become close friends, and she helps him discover what the cross is, one day, Maddie goes missing, she is no where to be found,  But hugo finds a note under his pillow saying 'MADDIE= IMDEAD' that the evil spirit has left. The spirit becomes more and more visible and hugo begins seeing the hand holding the cross, more and more, he looks through his childhood photographs and realises the cross and hand is also in his memory too. he discovers the cross is his demon, and it kills each and every victim in which is cursed to have it, He discovers the old couple died due to this demon, and in the end is viciously attacked and hurt by it. All past memories of Maddie come back, his parents become aware that something is going on in the house, they want to move, they cant stay there any longer. They move back into the city and the demon follows him, it wont stop until hugo is dead. it slowly kills off this dad, He stabs the dad Hugo is left with nothing but his mother, his mother is distraught about the loss of her husband. he sets cameras up around the house and catches the demon watching him sleep. The demon worms its way into Hugos body, Hugo is now possessed and kills his mother, the film ends with the funeral at the grave yard and on the grave stone is the hand holding the cross.

Storyline idea

The genre that i have decided to create a drafted storyline about is horror.
A main character who is yet to be decided will live on their own in the countryside, the power goes out and the generator is outside the house in a shed outside of the house, there is a part missing from the generator and a note, the note shows where the next note is, eventually the notes lead to the part but along the way there is a tall pasty figure that is stalking the man/women's movement throughout the journey to the part, the tall pasty figure is shown throughout the journey but is never focused upon him, the person gets to the part but then sees blood on the said part, the person then roams around following a blood path towards a note that says 'do not look behind you', character looks behind them to see the pasty figure besides a tree some distance away, the character runs away and stumbles upon a body covered in blood, main character looks behind again and sees the figure close behind, she runs away from the body towards their house in the country, they leave the torch behind and are running in complete darkness towards the house, she gets to the house and the door is already open, she sees a blood trail leading upstairs towards her bedroom, she proceeds upstairs and theres all over, she hears a bang in the bathroom,  the character investigates and then hears a thud in the characters bedroom and she goes into the bedroom and they see them-self, laying on the bed, with a knife to their throat, the pasty man looks at the character and slits the throat of the sleeping character.

History:

Horror films go back as far as the onset of films themselves, over a 100 years ago. From our earliest days, we use our vivid imaginations to see ghosts in shadowy shapes, to be emotionally connected to the unknown and to fear things that are improbable. Watching a horror film gives an opening into that scary world, into an outlet for the essence of fear itself, without actually being in danger. Weird as it sounds, there's a very real thrill and fun factor in being scared or watching disturbing, horrific images.
