Evaluation question 1

Our opening title sequence is very much that would be expected of our chosen genre, it is using dark colours, a contrasting title and lights towards the camera which look good as they shake towards the camera and look like fear is present in the film which is something we have worked towards as a horror genre. The music also contributes with these factors, we used 2 screeches, which are also shocking, which is also an element we want in our film or a fear of the unknown character within the film.

If our 2-minute film were a full film it would be a non-linear narrative due to this clip, it would be used as a flashback and would show earlier events before the killings present in the 2 minutes. Would show other events the mystery character had committed and earlier events the main characters had come across. Due to our chosen genre being a horror we tried to incorporate the elements associated with horrors, we made sure they were present in our film, examples of this is the fact we filmed at night, we filmed our film at night in order to create more fear as some people have a fear of the dark, and it also adds mystery and the anonymous character is not easily seen in the darkness.

We used a range of shots in order to create a certain effect; we used a level framing shot to show that it was a normal situation with no certain person being in power or more significant than the other. As the film progressed we varied the height of the angles, there was a switch of power as the mystery character appeared throughout, there were more high angle shots to show this character in power due to him being feared. We made sure our film has continuity and were smooth to watch in order for it to look more professional. We made sure we were filming in an area with little wind that would affect the sound. We also used props such as torches in order to make the film seem more realistic and used a costume for the mystery to make him look abnormal.

We used a white font to contrast with the dark background, we used visual conventions of a typical horror film as it is in a woods and a dark lighted area.
